Rochester Rotary on a roll in the cause of ‘doing good’ Local club members were involved in a variety of community projects throughout the last year.
The Rotary Club of Rochester (Australia, District 9800) has been doing great things — with bigger adventures in store for the future.
Fifty-five people attended the club’s ‘Pie and Port’ fundraising night which realised $595 from a raffle to go towards Rotary Ovarian Cancer Research (RoCan) on Saturday May 6.
Attendees included District Governor Neville John and Assistant Governor for the Eastside cluster Therese Mckenny.
Rochester club president Bryan Griffiths said the night was a great success.
“We were awarded the District 9800 Conference trophy for the club with the most members and partners in attendance at a recent district conference held in Shepparton,” he said.
“The importance of health in our own community was further highlighted with the playing of a DVD depicting the reason for the work of RoCan.”
“A big thank you to Tramcar Restaurant in Melbourne for their support of this fundraiser.”
Local club members have been involved in a variety of community projects throughout the last year including ‘Farm and Road Safety Day’, ROADEC defensive driver training course at the Elmore Events Centre and the Rotary International Centennial Event.
The club has also installed a disabled access ramp at the courthouse building club rooms with funding from the Rotary International charity arm known as ‘Foundation’.
President Bryan Griffiths has joined a travelling group of District Rotarians in Atlanta, Georgia, to help celebrate ‘100 years of doing good’ in the world as part of the 2017 World Convention and attended a gala dinner in Melbourne on May 31.
