On March 25, the Round Rock Rotary Club will be hosting its Annual Ron Morrison Memorial Car Thing from 6-9 pm at the CHASCO Family YMCA venue.

Though the event will once again celebrate the beloved Williamson County commissioner, this year’s memorial will be in honour and memoriam. Morrison died last September after a longtime battle against prostate cancer.

The lifetime Round Rock resident was a pillar of the city, known for his sense of humor, hard work and dedication to the community. Before serving as county commissioner for three terms, he taught at Round Rock High School and co-operated Morrison Auto with his wife.

“The 19th annual Ron Morrison Memorial Car Thing holds a special significance this year as it is in the dedication of our well-respected County Commissioner, Ron Morrison,” said Rene Flores, event chair and Rotary Club member. “Morrison was an amazing individual within the Round Rock Community, and he is missed deeply by many. This year’s event will honor his impressive achievements in our community as well as him as an individual.”

For the 19th year in a row, the event will benefit several local charities in and around the Round Rock area, including Partners in Education Foundation Round Rock ISD, Round Rock Area Serving Center, Agape Pregnancy Resource Center and the YMCA of Greater Williamson County.

Tickets are priced $125, or five tickets for a total of $500. The purchase includes drinks and dinner for two, as well as one drawing entry in a reverse raffle.

This year’s prizes are two Southwest Airlines tickets from Round Rock Travel, four tickets to three concerts at the Austin 360 Amphitheatre Summer Music Concert Series and a $6,000 credit to Round Rock Travel for a vacation to the destination of your choice.

To purchase tickets, contact Rene Flores or any Rotary member, or visit the Round Rock Rotary Club website and Facebook page for details.
