Rotary to raffle off kids’ playhouse A children’s playhouse will be sold through a draw which will raise funds for the club’s projects such as college scholarships, dictionary to third graders and various Interact programmes.
The Rotary Club of Hamilton (Montana, US – D 5390) is raffling off a kids’ playhouse.
Tickets are $20 each and the club has limited the number of tickets sold to 500. As of Tuesday, 210 have already been sold.
The drawing will occur on Wednesday, August 29, during the Ravalli County Parade.
Members of the Rotary club built the playhouse using materials that were donated by Massa Home Center and their suppliers.
Alpine Granite Accents, Quality Maintenance Enterprises, Montana Bliss Artworks, McLaren HVAC and TrailWest Bank each supported the building effort with a $1,000 donation.
The playhouse is on display and the $20 tickets can be purchased at Massa Home Center in Hamilton.
“The playhouse is certainly one of a kind,” said Jeff Wolfe, a 12-year Rotarian and co-owner of Massa Home Center.
“It is made from high quality materials, many of which were generously donated by our suppliers.”
Some of the playhouse features detailed by Wolfe include: Fortress powder coated railing, Therma-Tru stained fiberglass doors, Kwikset door hardware, AZEK Vintage PVC decking, Northwest Factory Finishes pre-finished siding, Fortress LED exterior lighting, LJ Smith metal balusters, Alpine Granite Accents counters and post caps, Chester Weeks’ hand-scraped walnut floors, and a Velux skylight.
The idea to build the playhouse came during a Rotary board meeting about a year ago.
It was Wolfe’s idea and he led the charge on getting the project off the ground.
Rotarian Chris Edwards offered space in his shop to build the playhouse, and on Jan 1, 2018, the project was started.
Alpine Granite Accents’ employee Jesse Evans had the desire to donate his time and skills to a service project but was not a Rotarian.
Wolfe was happy to have the help, and the duo spent many hours designing, building, and perfecting the playhouse.
Evans was awarded an honorary Paul Harris Award from the Rotary Club of Hamilton for his selfless contributions to this project.
“We have a healthy and active Rotary Club,” said Steve Kice, the current Rotary Club President.
“The playhouse raffle is going to generate funds necessary to continue local Rotary projects.”
Kice says that working under the Rotary motto “Service Above Self”, the Rotary Club of Hamilton annually awards six $1,000 college scholarships, gives a dictionary to every third grader in the Bitterroot Valley, pays for up to six high school students to attend RYLA Leadership Camp, collects funds and donates gift certificates to kids in need during Christmas, sponsors the Corvallis and Darby High School Interact programmes – which is over 100 members strong, and is the financial arm of the Bitterroot Valley Back Pack programme – which provides weekend meals to kids who may otherwise go without.
“The playhouse is a work of art,” said Edwards.
“Any child or adult would be proud to own this masterpiece. Please purchase a ticket while visiting Massa Home Center and help support a very worthy cause.”
The Rotary Club of Hamilton meets every Monday from noon to 1 pm at BJs Restaurant located in Hamilton. Prospective members and interested parties are always welcome.
