Nominations for a Guernsey Christmas food parcels initiative have opened.
The Rotary Club of Guernsey said the project aimed to provide essential food items to “families and individuals facing hardship particularly amid the ongoing cost-of-living crisis”.
It has urged local charitable organisations to put forward names of islanders who may be in need of assistance.
Paul Watts, chair of the food parcel team, said: “Christmas can place an enormous strain on budgets. Last year, we were able to deliver 165 food parcels to those nominated by our partner agencies.”
Mr Watts said the organisation relied on the nominating agencies to identify those most in need.
“We sincerely hope that these food packages will go some way to easing the crisis over Christmas for the families that are nominated this year,” he added.
The Rotary Club of Guernsey said it needed organisations, charities, and community service groups that work directly with people in need across the bailiwick to submit nominations.
It said self-nominations could not be accepted and it urged organisations to get in touch.
