Gadsden Rotary Club donates nearly $17,000 to local education

The Gadsden Rotary Club on Oct. 9 donated $16,850 to the Etowah County Board of Education and the Gadsden City Board of Education.

A news release from the Rotary Club says the money was raised during the club’s Little Black  Dress Fundraiser, which was held Sept. 18 at the Gadsden Country Club.

The Little Black Dress Fundraiser, held Sept. 18, 2025, at the Gadsden Country Club, fe atured a four-course dinner with specialty drinks served by celebrity waiters and an opportunity to bid on merchandise during a silent auction.

The news release said the Little Black Dress Fundraiser featured “a record turnout and incredible generosity from the community.”

Jonathan Roland, the Rotary Club’s president, said education is a vital part of the club’s work.

“We believe every student deserves the  tools and resources needed to succeed. This contribution is part of Gadsden Rotary Club’s ongoing  commitment to education and community development in Gadsden and Etowah County,” Roland said.

“Our members are honored to support the schools that are making a difference every day by shaping our future leaders and creating brighter futures for the next generation,” he said. “This donation reflects Gadsden Rotary’s commitment to helping students and teachers thrive.”

The Gadsden Rotary Club is club No. 4036 in Rotary District 6860 of Rotary International, a global organization dedicated to “Service Above Self.”

Rotary International and its local clubs focus on community service while promoting integrity, goodwill, and peace.

The Gadsden Rotary Club will soon announce the 2026 date for the Little Black Dress Fundraiser.
