Over 3,000 women and girls took part in the Singapenn Marathon in Chennai, to raise awareness about cervical cancer prevention and women’s safety. The event, spearheaded by Nallammai Ramanathan, was organised by RC Madras Central, RID 3234, and Inner Wheel clubs of the district, along with Tamil Nadu government’s newly-formed Singapenn Special Force.

K Bhavaneeswari, Inspector General of Police and head of the Singapenn Special Force, encouraged women to use safety resources such as the 1091 helpline, and PDG SVRM Abirami Ramanathan spoke about the need for HPV vaccination to prevent cervical cancer.
DG Suresh Jain, PDGs Vinod Saraogi, J Sreedhar and N S Saravanan and DGN Ravi Sundaresan were present along with the club president Sridhar Krishnaswamy, Singapenn Committee members from RC Madras Central and Inner Wheel members.
