Rotary International and the Government of India have initiated discussions to deepen collaboration in advancing national development priorities through community-led initiatives, following a recent meeting between Vice President of India C P Radhakrishnan and RI Vice President M Muruganandam in Delhi.
It was decided to strengthen the partnership between Rotary and GoI across key sectors such as education, healthcare, youth leadership development, water and sanitation, and other nation-building initiatives, leveraging Rotary’s global network, grassroots presence, and decades of expertise in community service to deliver sustainable impact across India.

The Vice President, who acknowledged Rotary’s leadership and legacy in the global fight against polio, said he supported Rotary India’s aspiration to host a future RI convention in India. As a huge global event, it would bring together in India thousands of delegates from across the world, positioning it as a global hub for humanitarian collaboration, innovation and service while strengthening international partnerships.
Later Muruganandam said, “It was an honour to meet the Vice President of India and discuss opportunities to strengthen Rotary’s contribution in India’s development journey. His encouragement, particularly for India’s aspiration to host a future RI convention, is a recognition of our commitment to expand impactful service initiatives, and build stronger partnerships that create lasting change for communities across the country.”
