A GG-funded brain centre in TN

ACraniofacial Centre was inaugurated by RI Vice President and director M Muruganandam at the Scudder Memorial Hospital, Ranipet, in Tamil Nadu through a global grant project (`1.5 crore) of RC Arcot Fort, RID 3231. The medical project was done in partnership with RC Sarasota Sunrise, Florida, US, RID 6960 and was supported by 13 other clubs as co-sponsors.

PDG Jawarilal Jain also supported the funding of the brain centre with a directed gift endowment. The high-tech medical centre will provide specialised care for children and adults with complex craniofacial conditions including birth defects, injuries and tumours affecting the head, skull, face and jaw. Speaking on the occasion, Muruganandam said, “the facility will not merely provide medical treatment, it will bring hope, dignity, confidence and a better quality of life to countless individuals and families.”

He congratulated the host club and lauded DG T S Ravikumar for taking up the GG project.

Earlier, he inaugurated a dialysis unit set up by RC Usilampatti, RID 3000, at the local government hospital, and unveiled a Rotary welcome board put up by RC Theni Central Gems at Theni, near Madurai, to enhance the public image of Rotary in the southern parts of Tamil Nadu.
