Rotary in a Nutshell is a handy compilation of basic information about Rotary, making it a useful reference for new Rotarians and an easy way for experienced members to refresh their knowledge of the organisation and its various facets.

The book has already received a strong response. RID 3233 PDG A Subramaniam says that around 5,500 copies of the English edition were sold soon after its release in July, while 2,000 copies of the Tamil edition, Ullangayil Ungal Rotary (Rotary in Your Palm), were sold within 10 days of its release in August. A Hindi edition is now under translation.
Author PDG George Sundararaj, international vice-chair of the Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI), has pledged the proceeds from the book to TRF. He has also started a Named Endowment Fund in memory of his wife, Rtn Priscilla, who died in a road accident three years ago. The $25,000 fund has received a further $1,000 from the book sales.
The response from Rotary leaders has been encouraging. Michael McGovern, RI PolioPlus chair and former RLI international chair, wrote: “I think you have the most successful Rotary book launch since Frank Devlyn wrote his Frank Talk books and he had the Rotary International Presidency to promote it. You should be proud of what you have accomplished.”
District and club leaders have also appreciated the book for its practical approach. Subisha Madhu, president of RC Calicut Cultural City, wrote: “Your ‘capsule book’ is so informative, easy to read and understand. It’s always in my bag now. Whenever I get some free time, I take it out and read a bit. Thank you for creating something so useful and practical!”
