North Berwick Rotary Club recently heard about the scheme, Beyond The Clouds, during a presentation about the initiative.
Beyond The Clouds is a social enterprise that offers immersive travel experiences across Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet and Ladakh, taking visitors into rural Himalayan communities to meet local families and experience daily life.
Ian Donald, international chair at North Berwick Rotary Club, said: “It captures the Rotary spirit of fellowship, international understanding and service.
“This is travel with a purpose, giving visitors a memorable experience while supporting meaningful projects.”
The tours are designed and operated by First Steps Himalaya, a charity dedicated to improving education in rural Nepal.
Profits from Beyond The Clouds directly support the charity’s work, including strengthening schools, empowering teachers and supporting learning environments.
Travellers can choose from a range of trips, including the Visit the Projects tour, which is led by the charity’s Scottish-Nepali founding directors Fionna Heiton and Durga Aran.
Beyond The Clouds also welcomes individuals, families, and groups.
Clubs, churches and community organisations across the area can also arrange guest speakers to hear first-hand how ethical tourism is helping First Steps Himalaya transform lives in Nepal.
