Recycled benches are part of clubs’ plastic recycling program

The Stoughton Lions Club and the Rotary Club of Stoughton donated two recycled benches to Stoughton Health, located outside the hospital’s main entrance and Emergency Department. These benches provide a welcoming space for patients, visitors, and community members.

Rotary Club members Mike Gilbert and Caitlin Behnke (seated) with Terry Brenny (standing) are pictured on the left. Lions Club members Diana Hanson and Tom Jenny (seated) with Mike Niedfeldt (standing) are pictured on the right. In the back center is Laura Mays from Stoughton Health.

The benches are part of the clubs’ Plastic Recycling Program, which—together with Sand Hill Elementary School and community members—collect about 8,000 pounds (4 tons) of plastic each year. That plastic is repurposed into durable, usable items.

“We are grateful for this donation,” said Stoughton Health Foundation Executive Director, Laura Mays. “The benches represent not only a valuable addition for our patients, but also highlight the impact we can make when our community comes together.”
