Starflight chopper at Rotary breakfast Organised by the Rotary Club of Dunkirk-Fredonia, the Fly-In breakast event is a well-established tradition in the community and draws over 1,200 patrons annually.

The Rotary Club of Dunkirk-Fredonia (New York, US – D 7090) has announced that the Starflight medevac service will send one of its medical evacuation helicopters to the club’s 54th Annual Fly-In Breakfast to be held on Sunday, July 8 at the Chautauqua County Airport, Dunkirk at 3389 Middle Road in Dunkirk.

Barring medical emergencies, one of Starflight’s two helicopters is expected land at approximately 8 am and will stay for the morning.

Breakfast will be served from 8 am to noon or until supplies run out.

The Rotary Fly-in Breakfast event is a well-established tradition in the community and draws over 1,200 patrons annually.

Pilots of private planes from throughout western New York and northwest Pennsylvania region fly in to the Dunkirk airport each year on the second Sunday of July and display their aircraft for visitors to examine up close and personal.

Vintage and experimental aircraft are expected again this year. Airplane and helicopter rides will be available from private pilots.

Based in Jamestown, Starflight Inc is a local not-for-profit medevac service serving Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Warren, Allegany and McKean Counties.

Founded in 1986 in partnership with the WCA Hospital and the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department, Starflight has made over 10,000 transports since beginning service.

These transports are for the most critically ill and injured patients that require specialised treatment at tertiary care centres.

The organisation operates two McDonnell Douglas Model MD900 Explorer helicopters. Designed especially for emergency medical transport, each aircraft has all the medical supplies and equipment that any well-equipped ambulance has, and can travel at a cruising speed of 154 miles per hour.

Each Starflight helicopter is operated by two highly trained pilots (primarily retired military personnel) and flies with specially-trained nurses and paramedics who are in constant communication with a team of emergency medicine doctors on the ground.

The menu for the all-you can-eat breakfast will include scrambled eggs, sausage, pancakes, juice, coffee and milk.

The cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under.

Tickets will be available at the door and are also available from members of the Rotary club and at Fresh and Fancy Flowers and Gifts in Fredonia.

Corporate sponsors and partners for the event include Lake Shore Savings Bank, DFT Communications, the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and the Chautauqua Region Economic Development Corporation.
