Diamond prize at a Rotary gala During the Diamonds and Denim fundraiser for the healthcare project, Champagne glasses can be purchased at $50 with the chance of winning a one-carat diamond valued at $6,000.
Should you order a glass of champagne at the Rotary Club of Petoskey’s (Michigan, US – D 6290) Diamonds and Denim Dinner and Dance Gala on Saturday, Sept 22, it may contain more than just bubbles.
It could also be a chance to win a one-carat diamond valued at $6,000.
During the Diamonds and Denim fundraiser to benefit the McLaren Northern Michigan Foundation’s “Building the Future of Health Care” campaign, glasses of champagne can be purchased for $50 with the chance of winning the diamond.
Guests who attend the annual event will have a one-in-200 chance of winning the one-carat diamond, donated by Reusch Jewelers.
“For the fifth year, Vance Reusch and his staff at Reusch Jewelers are generously donating a high-quality diamond,” said Rotarian Reg Smith, chair of the planning committee for the fundraiser, adding Reusch Jewelers is also the dinner sponsor.
“Just think, for $50 you have a chance to win a one-carat diamond valued at $6,000 – all the while enjoying a wonderful glass of champagne and helping the expansion and renovation project at the McLaren Northern Michigan Petoskey campus.”
With a legacy dating back to 1885, and locations in Petoskey and Cheboygan, Reusch Jewelers has been a long-time supporter of many community causes — including the Rotary Club of Petoskey’s Diamonds and Denim event for all five years.
“The bedazzled champagne is a favourite among many sparkling moments throughout the evening. We are grateful to Reusch Jewelers for contributing to Diamonds and Denim in such a meaningful and festive way,” Smith added.
The event is scheduled for 5.30-11 pm on Saturday, Sept 22, at the Lange Center at Bay Harbor Yacht Club in Bay Harbor.
Tickets are $100 per person for unreserved seating, $900 for a reserved table for eight people and $1,100 for a reserved table of 10.
The event includes appetisers, two drink tickets courtesy of Happy Hour sponsor Stafford’s Hospitality, a cash bar, gourmet dinner, silent and live auctions and dancing to a DJ.
The Rotary Club of Petoskey is hosting an online silent and live auction as part of the Diamonds and Denim event.

Numerous auction items have been received and range from “beer for a year” from Burnt Marshmellow Brewery to a birthday party and pottery event for eight at Crooked Tree Arts Center, to an aqua class punch card at the John and Marnie Demmer Wellness Pavilion and Dialysis Center, to gift certificates to area restaurants and beauty salons.
More than 100 auction items have been received and are being updated daily on the website.
A large portion of the proceeds from the dinner, dance, and auctions will benefit the McLaren Northern Michigan Foundation “Building the Future of Health Care” campaign.
In mid-July, McLaren Northern Michigan broke ground on a new 170,000 square foot wing on its Petoskey hospital campus.
The new wing will house 92 private rooms, new and expanded intensive care and cardiovascular units and a new surgery suite featuring larger and technologically advanced operating rooms.
Various aspects of the current hospital will also be renovated.
The McLaren Northern Michigan expansion and renovation project is part of a long-range strategic plan to transform health care in the region.
